Through private one-to-one portfolio reviews, demonstrations, creative exercises, project development, and personal feedback, Agnes Cecile will guide you in developing your artistic vision, finding new sources of inspiration, and transforming ideas into original paintings.
New watercolor paintings will be created every day, combining practical painting sessions with creative exploration. The vibrant Vietnamese surroundings, with its colorful lanterns, slow river life, and blend of history and nature, provides endless inspiration throughout the retreat.
This retreat is intended for artists who already have watercolor and portrait fundamentals and wish to focus on developing their own creative voice rather than technical skills.
Day 1. Arrival Arrive at The Interlude Villa in Hoi An.
Day 2. Monochromatic Portrait + One-to-One Tuition Learn monochromatic watercolor portrait techniques while exploring freedom and trust in water. In the afternoon, dedicated 30-minute one-to-one session with each student.
Day 3. Hoi An Guided Tour + One-to-One Tuition Explore the beautiful city of Hoi An. In the afternoon, dedicated 30-minute one-to-one session with each student.
Day 4. Creativity Learn how to develop an idea, moving from a rough concept to a clear sketch. Explore Hoi An by night, enjoying the lanterns and night markets.
Day 5. Create Your First Project Explore composition, contrast, balance, and ways to communicate emotions through your work.
Day 6. Create Your Second Project Learn how to use yourself and the world around you as sources of inspiration and reference. In the evening, explore Hoi An by night, enjoying the lanterns and vibrant night markets.
Day 7. Portrait & Emotions + Mini Exhibition Finish your paintings and plant the seeds for future projects.
Day 8. Check out Check out and transfer to the airport for departure.
The Interlude is a boutique villa located in Tra Que village, surrounded by rice fields and organic herb gardens just outside Hoi An. Designed as a place for artists and creative travelers, it offers a peaceful environment away from the city while remaining close to Hoi An’s historic center.
The property features 10 guest rooms, a swimming pool, a spacious garden, and several outdoor areas to relax and enjoy the surrounding landscape. The rooms combine contemporary comfort with traditional Vietnamese influences, creating bright and welcoming spaces filled with natural light.
At the heart of the villa is a dedicated art studio equipped with large work tables, easels, natural light, air conditioning, and a sound system. The studio is available to guests throughout the retreat.

- To reserve your spot, a deposit of €500 is required at the time of booking.
- The remaining balance will be due once the retreat is confirmed and guaranteed to run. At that time, participants will receive a separate payment link for the final balance.
- Once the retreat is confirmed, all payments made, including the deposit and final balance, are non-refundable.
- If the retreat is not confirmed, the deposit will be fully refunded.
