The Venue

Masseria Specula

Masseria Specula is a beautifully restored 17th-century farmhouse dating back to 1611, located in the heart of Puglia, Southern Italy. Surrounded by olive groves and Mediterranean countryside.

The Adriatic Sea is just a short distance away, with the nearest beach reachable in approximately 20 minutes on foot. The retreat takes place across two connected properties: the historic Masseria and a nearby modern villa.

One of the highlights of the experience is the food. Meals are inspired by traditional Puglian cuisine and prepared by local Italian grandmothers, whose recipes and techniques have been passed down through generations, offering guests an authentic taste of the region.

The historic Masseria preserves many original architectural features, including traditional stables, ancient wells, and wood-fired ovens, creating a unique atmosphere that reflects the rich heritage of Southern Italy.

All rooms include a private bathroom, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and either double or twin beds.

Historic Masseria

The main retreat activities, meals, and painting sessions take place in the historic Masseria.

Located within the Masseria are:

  • 5 Shared Rooms
  • 2 Single Suites
  • Dedicated Retreat Studio (7.5m × 7.5m, Wi-Fi, AC)

Modern Villa

An additional Shared Room and an additional Single Room are located in the nearby Modern Villa.

The villa is approximately 200 meters from the Masseria, about a 3-minute walk along a quiet public road lined with olive trees. The villa features a large swimming pool (10m × 5m), which can be enjoyed by all retreat participants.

Guests staying in the Modern Villa should note that all meals and classes take place at the Masseria. During the warmer hours of the day, particularly around lunchtime, this short walk may involve some time under direct sunlight.

To make moving around more comfortable, the venue provides bicycles and sun umbrellas that guests may freely use both for reaching the beach and for travelling between the Masseria and the pool area.
